A policeman was suspended after he allegedly pointed his gun at Congress leader and Lok Sabha member Kamal Nath on Friday at Madhya Pradesh’s Chhindwara airstrip, ANI reported.
“One of the policemen deployed for the security of Kamal Nath suspiciously pointed the gun towards him at the airport,” Assistant Superintendent of Police Neeraj Soni said. The police are investigating the matter, he said.
The constable, Ratnesh Pawar, was overpowered by security personnel immediately after they saw him aim his gun at Nath. The constable told authorities that he does not remember what he had done, Soni said, adding that he would be medically examined.
Nath was leaving for Delhi after a public meeting on Friday evening when the incident happened, the Hindustan Times reported. He is serving his ninth straight term as MP from Chhindwara.
