The volcano has been spewing lava, forcing mass evacuations from the island to protect locals. But that didn’t keep Ikomang Giri from ignoring the warnings and actually climbing Mount Agung.
The act was condemned by Sutopo Purwo Nugroho of the National Disaster Management Agency. “This is obviously a violation,” he said.
