The Delhi Police sent bomb squads and sniffer dogs to the Khan Market area on Friday morning following a bomb threat phone call. Nothing suspicious was found during the search operations, but it is still going on, PTI reported.
The United States Embassy urged American citizens to avoid the Khan Market locality until the “police give all clear”, reports said.
The police control room got the call around 6.40 am. The caller claimed he had received a WhatsApp message that a bomb would go off at 4 pm on Friday in the popular central Delhi market, NDTV reported.
Khan Market is the most expensive retail location in India and the 24th most in the world, a report said last month.
More details are awaited.
