The Tripura Police have arrested a 58-year-old man for two cases of theft that he had committed 37 years ago, IANS reported on Tuesday.
The police arrested Sisir Dhar from Jirania in western Tripura on Monday based on two permanent arrest warrants. He was then sent to the chief judicial magistrate court, said Officer-in-Charge of West Agartala Police Station Subrata Chakraborty.
Dhar, who is a grandfather now, had committed the two crimes in 1981 in Agartala, said Chakraborty. The police, however, do not have any details of the thefts.
Dhar had been absconding for many years, the police said, adding that he has been working as a labourer for the last few years.
