CCTV cameras at the National Zoo in Washington DC caught a beautiful moment when Mei Xiang, resident celebrity panda, began to frolic during the first snowfall of the season.
The giant panda rolled about on her enclosure as it snowed, and then ran and leapt in joy, and even somersaulted, clearly delighted with the world around her turning into a winter wonderland.
According to the National Zoo, the species is native to the cold climate in the mountains of Western China and is actually more active in wintertime. The National Zoo also posted a video (below) of red panda Asa enjoying a romp in the snow while giant panda Bei Bei looked on.
