The parents of an Indian student shot at in Chicago in the United States have sought External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj’s help for an emergency visa to visit their son. His father said his son was in hospital with a serious gunshot wound, NDTV reported.
Mohammed Akbar, a 30-year-old from Hyderabad pursing his masters at DeVry University, was shot at on December 6 while he was walking towards his car in the parking lot in Chicago’s Albany Park locality, The Times of India reported. The assailant has not been identified yet.
On Sunday, Akbar’s family in Hyderabad sought help from Telangana Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy to ensure that he gets good treatment in the US and also to take up the shooting with authorities.
Akbar’s father Mohammed Yousuf said his son has an injury on his cheek.
