The limited-overs leg of Sri Lanka’s tour to India could not have begun on a better note for the visitors as they reduced India to 112 all out in 38.2 overs. Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the top-scorer with 65 runs, provided the only resistance as a Virat Kohli-less India stumbled against the moving ball.
At on point, it didn’t look India could make it past their record lowest total of 54 runs, let alone 100 runs. But with the score on 29 for 7, Dhoni got into a stand with Kuldeep Yadav to stitch together a crucial partnership of 41 to steer India away from the ignominy.
However, India still broke a slew of unfortunate records with their miserable batting performance.
