Media giant Pokemon’s first live-action film Detective Pikachu will star Ryan Reynolds as its loved mascot Pikachu, reported Variety.
The Deadpool actor will be sharing the screen along with Justice Smith and Kathryn Newton (Big Little Lies). Directed by Robert Letterman (Monsters vs. Aliens), the Pokemon production will see Pikachu join hands with Justice Smith’s character to release his abducted father. Newton will portray the role of a journalist.
Since its introduction in 1996, Pokemon has produced 300 million video games. The Japanese company has also launched a popular 20-season anime series and five animated films of the same name. Pokémon: The First Movie (1998), Pokémon: Jirachi Wish Maker (2003) and Pokémon: The Rise of Darkrai (2008) are some of the films.
