The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday said that they had arrested a militant named Muzammil in connection with the murder of 23-year-old Territorial Army jawan Irfan Ahmad Dar. Ahmad Dar’s bullet-riddled body was found in the Wothmula Nad area of Keegam village in Shopian district on November 25.
Three others, including top Hizbul Mujahideen commander Saddam Padder, were behind Dar’s murder, the police said. Padder was with the Lashkar-e-Taiba before joining the Hizbul Mujahideen in 2015.
Dar, a resident of Sanzan village, was posted in Gurez in north Kashmir, the police said. They added that he was at home on vacation, when, on November 24, Muzammil visited him. Muzammil took Dar to Wothmula, where the other militants, including Padder, were waiting. They came out of a nearby orchard and shot him dead.
