Google has blocked its video streaming application YouTube on Amazon’s voice-activated gadget Echo Show. It also said it will block the app on the company’s digital media player Fire TV from January.

The tech giant accused the online retail behemoth of not selling Google hardware on its platform, Reuters reported. The Sundar Pichai-led company accused its rival, with which it competes in many fields such as cloud computing, online search and voice-controlled gadgets, of “lack of reciprocity”.

“We have been trying to reach an agreement with Amazon to give consumers access to each other’s products and services,” a spokesperson for Google told TechCrunch. “But Amazon does not carry Google products like Chromecast and Google Home, does not make Prime Video available for Google Cast users, and last month, it stopped selling some of Nest’s latest products.”

The Nest, which was acquired by Google in 2014, manufactures devices meant for a smart home.

In response, Amazon said Google was “setting a disappointing precedent by selectively blocking customer access to an open website”.

Google is also unhappy with the Jeff Bezos-led company for building its own version of YouTube on both Echo and Fire TV, Endgadget reported. This app lacks a number of features of the original app.

Google had earlier taken off YouTube from Amazon Echo in September.
