The National Commission for Women will on Monday meet the woman who Patidar leader Hardik Patel allegedly sexually exploited, PTI reported.
The panel received a new complaint days after an alleged sex CD, purportedly showing Patel, was circulated on social media. The complaint involves another woman.
A team led by Rekha Sharma, who has additional charge as the chairperson of the National Commission for Women, left for Surat on Sunday night.
“The complaint contains personal information about a girl who wishes to talk to the commission confidentially as she is scared to come forward,” the NCW said. “Rekha Sharma will talk to the media once the team has spoken to the girl and investigated the matter thoroughly.”
The women’s commission is also examining a complaint by a Delhi-based lawyer, who asked it to investigate the earlier sex videos that purportedly feature Patel.
The Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti leader claimed that the videos are morphed and accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of playing “dirty politics”. He alleged that the BJP and Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani were behind the release of the CDs.
Patel’s outfit joined hands with the Congress for the upcoming Gujarat Assembly elections after the Congress agreed to bring in a bill on reservation for Patidars if they come to power in the state. The elections in Gujarat are scheduled for December 9 and 14.
