Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti was on Saturday elected the president of the Peoples Democratic Party for the sixth time in a row, PTI reported. She will remain president for three more years.
Her election was unanimous, party leaders said.
Mufti, 57, succeeded her father Mufti Mohammad Sayeed as chief minister of the state early last year after his death. Sayeed had founded the party in 1999.
On Twitter, Mehbooba Mufti thanked party leaders for “reposing their trust” in her.
“Will work tirelessly to fulfill our shared vision of development, inclusiveness and reconciliation in Jammu and Kashmir,” she wrote on Twitter.
