The production of the Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody has been stalled due to director Bryan Singer’s, “unexpected unavailability”, Entertainment Weekly reported. Singer’s representative said that the director’s unavailability is because of “a personal health matter concerning Bryan and his family”. The director reportedly hopes to get back to working on the film after the Christmas holidays.

Bohemian Rhapsody chronicles the journey of Queen from its inception in 1970 up to their performance at Live Aid in 1985, six years before front man Freddie Mercury’s death. The film features Rami Malek as Mercury, Ben Hardy as drummer Roger Taylor, Gwilym Lee as lead guitarist Brian May, and Joseph Mazzello as bass guitarist John Deacon.

Singer’s direction credits include The Usual Suspects (1995), four X-Men movies including X- Men: Apocalypse (2016), and Superman Returns (2006). Bohemian Rhapsody is scheduled to be released by 20th Century Fox on December 25, 2018.
