Mumbai City FC’s assistant coach Juliano Anthony Fontana was suspended for four games and handed a fine of Rs seven lakhs for “physically pushing” referee Ramtim Saha during his team’s 2-1 loss against FC Pune City last week, The Times of India reported.
The incident occurred at the end of the match as Fontana “charged” towards the referee and pushed him “aggressively”, the report stated.
“Players tried to calm him down but he was very aggressive and was seen again charging towards the match official’. Fontana has since pleaded guilty to the offence.
“I would like to sincerely apologise for my reaction towards the referee. I did show aggressive behaviour, towards the referee due to the decisions taken by him during the match,” Fontana told the committee.
