A cab driver was arrested in Delhi for allegedly trying to abduct a woman judge on Monday, PTI reported. The judge claimed that the driver had taken the NH-24 route towards Uttar Pradesh’s Hapur city instead of taking her to the Karkardooma Court.
The woman called the police when the driver allegedly changed the route, and the vehicle was intercepted near Ghazipur.
Delhi High Court’s Acting Chief Justice Gita Mittal expressed “grave concern” over the incident to the Delhi government’s law department, and said there was need to provide separate cars to judges as their security is “paramount”, The Times of India reported, quoting sources.
The driver is associated with a private company already under investigation, the police said.
