Sunny Pawar, who played the adorable Saroo who loses his way and reaches Kolkata and eventually Tasmania in Garth Davis’s Lion, will return to the streets for first-time filmmaker Safdar Rahman’s Chippa, reported Screen International.
Chippa is also set in Kolkata and is about a 10-year-old boy’s quest to get someone to read him his long-absent father’s letter, which is written in Urdu. The cast includes Chandan Roy Sanyal, Joyraj Bhattacharya and Masood Akhtar.
The company Travelling Lights, set up by Celine Loop (Tasher Desh, Brahman Naman), will produce the Hindi movie along with Victory Media and Ultra Media & Entertainment, Screen International reported. Chippa is aiming for a 2018 release.
Nine-year-old Pawar turned out a widely acclaimed performance as Saroo in Lion (2016), which is based on Australian businessman Saroo Brierley’s memoir A Long Way Home. Pawar was also a scene-stealer at the Oscars in March, where he was kitted out in a suit and sneakers.
