The first poster for Vishnu Manchu’s Tamil debut Kural 388 features the Telugu actor and director holding up an inked index finger against the backdrop of photographs of prominent politicians, including MG Ramchandran, K Karunanidhi, J Jayalalithaa and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The poster was released on Wednesday.
Directed by GS Karthik, the political thriller credits the voter as the hero of the democratic process. The bilingual will be released in Telugu as Voter and is aiming to be out in December.
“Voter is like building block of any democracy,” Karthik said in a press release. “Politicians make false promises to patronise voters. But after election is over, voters are neglected.” The filmmaker said that the movie shows voters revolting for their rights.
The film is reportedly based on the 388th couplet, or kural, of Thiruvalluvar’s ethical treatise Tirukkural, which was published in Tamil between 300 BCE and 7th century CE. The cast includes Surbhi, Sampath Raj, Nassar, Pragathi and Besan Nagar Ravi.
