Nihal Sarin needed just 13 moves to beat Einar Hjalti Jensson in the fifth round of the Runavik Open chess tournament in the Faroe Islands.
Nihal, a 13-year-old International Master (IM) from Kerala, took an hour and one minute to beat the 37-year-old Icelander.
With four points in five rounds, he’s fourth in the standings. Grand Master (GM) Srinath Narayanan, after his victory against GM Deep Sengupta, leads the pack with 4.5 points.
This March at the Aeroflot Open 2017 in Moscow, Nihal became the the second youngest IM in Indian history. He’s also the third youngest IM in the world.
