Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tej Pratap Yadav has threatened to beat up Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Modi at the Bharatiya Janata Party leader’s son’s wedding next month, a video showed on Wednesday. The video was reportedly recorded at a gathering in Aurangabad on November 19.

Yadav, a former health minister of the state and the son of RJD President Lalu Yadav, said he would “enter Modi’s house and beat him up” because his party’s quarrel with the BJP is “still on”.

Modi’s son Utkarsh is scheduled to get married on December 3.

“He has invited me [for the wedding] – he is humiliating us by inviting us... If I attend the wedding, I will expose him before everyone,” Yadav is seen saying in the video.

Our quarrel is still on. I will do politics there, because of the way we have been cheated...I will vandalise the wedding...enter his house and beat him up. I will insult him before the guests. I am a different type of person. I am emotional, like Lalu Yadav, who speaks whatever he feels like.

In response, Modi told The Times of India: “As part of courtesy and social norms...I have sent invitation to leaders of all political parties, including those of the RJD. I don’t understand why he is bringing politics into the marriage of my son.”

He also said that Yadav seems “frustrated”. “I have been exposing corruption and scandals involving his family which led to his party losing power and he lost the minister’s chair,” Modi said.

The animosity between the Rashtriya Janata Dal and the Bharatiya Janata Party in Bihar worsened after Chief Minister Nitish Kumar called off his alliance with the RJD in July and tied up with the BJP to run the state. The RJD also claims that the BJP is behind the corruption cases filed against Lalu Yadav and his family in recent months.
