A militant was killed on Monday in an encounter with security forces in the forest area of Tral in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district, the police said.
Security forces launched a search operation after receiving intelligence about the presence of a few militants in the Gujarbasti forest area, PTI reported. The troopers heard gunshots during the operation, after which they retaliated.
“A local militant has been gunned down in Tral village,” Deputy Inspector General (South Kashmir) SP Pani told Kashmir Reader. The militant was identified as Adil Ahmad Chopan, a resident of Tral.
