Actor Will Smith will be in Mumbai with his Bright co-stars Joel Edgerton and Noomi Rapace and director David Ayer on December 18 as part of a promotional tour for Netflix’s year-end release. The big-ticket movie will be premiered that evening ahead of its December 22 global release on Netflix.
In May, Brad Pitt and filmmaker David Michod had visited India for the premiere of the Netflix release War Machine.
Bright is a fantasy thriller set in an alternative universe where humans coexist with mythical creatures. The movie stars Smith and Edgerton as two policemen in present-day Los Angeles who chance upon a Elfin wand sought after by dark forces.
Ayer has previously directed the superhero film Suicide Squad (2016), the war film Fury (2014) and the critically acclaimed cop drama End of Watch (2012).
Since its launch in January 2016, the internet streaming giant has been pushing to expand its reach in India. The company is focusing on expanding its country-specific programming. Among the originals that are under production are Sacred Games, based on Vikram Chandra’s novel, Selection Day, an adaption of Arvind Adiga’s book of the same name, and an eight-episode series based on Bilal Siddiqi’s espionage thriller Bard of the Blood.
