An eight-year-old boy was killed and another child was injured in celebratory firing on Saturday during a wedding function in Kotkapura town in Punjab’s Faridkot district, the Hindustan Times reported on Sunday.
The police have arrested the groom’s maternal uncle for firing the fatal shot that killed the boy. The boy who was wounded in the incident is out of danger, police officer Charanjeet Kaur told PTI.
“It is an unfortunate incident,” Faridkot Senior Superintendent of Police Dr Nanak Singh told the Hindustan Times. “We have issued strict instructions to marriage places to ensure that such celebratory firing does not take place.”
