At least 19 people were killed and eight injured in a house fire in China’s capital city of Beijing on Saturday, the official Xinhua news agency reported. Those who were rescued were taken to hospital.
The fire, which was reported at 6.15 pm local time (3.45 pm Indian Standard Time) at Beijing’s southern Daxing district, was brought under control by 9 pm (6.30 pm IST).
Although there was no confirmation on how the fire broke out, the police have reportedly taken suspects under control, according to Xinhua. Unidentified police officials told the daily that the city authorities would set up a team to investigate the incident.
