The Hyderabad Police on Thursday arrested a school teacher for allegedly caning a five-year-old student, local daily Telangana Today reported. The child studies in the kindergarten section of the school in Hyderabad’s Tarnaka suburb.
His parents filed a police complaint after they saw the injuries on the child’s back. “A case was filed and the teacher has been sent to judicial custody,” Inspector V Ashok Reddy from the Osmania University police station told The News Minute.
According to the complaint, the teacher beat the boy after he started fighting with one of his classmates and ended up biting him. “She is suspected to have beaten him up with a cane or a stick,” Reddy said.
A local non-governmental organisation has demanded that the school be shut and sought action against the teacher and the school management for being cruel to a child, ANI reported.
