Tennis superstar Roger Federer has surpassed golf legend Tiger Woods to become the world’s highest earning athlete, as a result of prize money alone. The Swiss tennis superstar, after his win over Germany’s Alexander Zverev in the ATP Finals in London, took his total career prize money to $110,235,682 (₹720 crore approx).
In the process, Federer overtook Woods, who has earned $110,061,012 in his career so far, according to Forbes. The 14-time major golf champion has seen his career fall in recent years due to prolonged periods of injury and personal issues.
Federer has been consistent in the tennis circuit throughout his career. The 36-year-old has been on the men’s ATP World Tour since 1998. Till date, Federer has won 95 tournaments, including a men’s record 19 grand slam singles titles.
The 2017 season has been one the best season’s for Federer as he returned from a six-month long injury break to win major titles at the Australian Open and Wimbledon.
