The Rajasthan Cricket Association, which has been suspended since 2014, could be back in the Board for Control of Cricket in India soon, according to reports.
The Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators have asked acting BCCI president CK Khanna to call for a Special General Body meeting to discuss three key issues. Of them one is the revoking of RCA’s ban, according to The Indian Express.
The other two points are the Kochi Tuskers’ settlement and the next Future Tours and Programme keeping in mind the new Test and ODI championships that the ICC has brought into place, continued the report.
Khanna, who was appointed the chairman of the ad-hoc committee BCCI had formed to run Rajasthan cricket affairs, confirmed the news to the Times of India. “This is one of the issues scheduled to be discussed. It will be done at an appropriate forum,” Khanna was quoted as saying.
The RCA has been suspended since May 2014 when former IPL chairman Lalit Modi was re-elected as the president. For the last three years, BCCI has been looking after the Rajasthan team in domestic s and age-group competitions. The elections were held again in June this year, with the High Court overseeing the procedure and Congress leader CP Joshi was declared the president, winning against Modi’s son Ruchir.
The BCCI had recently recommended the names of selectors for senior and junior teams of the state, according to The Times of India report. Interestingly, one of the names listed was Mohammad Aslam, the convener of the Rajputana Premier League which has come under BCCI’s anti-corruption unit scanner.
