Hindi filmmaker Karan Johar released the posters of his upcoming production Dhadak, which is said to be an official remake of Nagraj Manjule’s Marathi hit Sairat, on Wednesday. The film will be directed by Shashank Khaitan and will mark the debut of Sridevi’s daughter Janhvi Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor’s step-brother Ishan Khatter.
Nagraj Manjule’s Sairat is a tragic love story between teenagers from different castes. The movie has been remade in Kannada and Punjabi. Dhadak is rumoured to be set in Haryana.
Johar’s Dharma Productions will bankroll the film along with Zee Studios. Dhadak will be released on July 6, 2018. Khaitan is the director of Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (2014) and Badrinath Ki Dulhania (2017).
