Who wouldn’t want a dog without the chores involved in looking after one? Actually, be careful what you wish for.
Boston Dynamics – now a Google company – has a dog for you. It’s a robot and is...headless.
SpotMini is definitely not your typical furry pet. A refined version of its 2016 avatar, Spot, it looks slightly more friendly now but still has no head.
The robot weighs 25 kg (or 30 kg with arms), and is a full-on electric machine that can transport things for you across all kinds of terrain – flat, inclined, rough, smooth, and even stairs. It can function for 90 minutes straight once it’s been charged. The company’s description of SpotMini calls it “a nimble robot that handles objects, climbs stairs, and will operate in offices, homes and outdoors.”
