South Africa pacer Dale Steyn is set to play his first competitive match in a year after being named in the 13-member squad of the Titans, who face Knights in a Ram Slam encounter, ESPNCricinfo reported on Wednesday.
Steyn has been recovering from a fractured bone in his shoulder over the past year. If all goes according to plan, he is likely to turn up for the Proteas when they face India for a full tour, starting in January.
The 34-year-old has been plagued with multiple injuries in the last 12 months. Other than the shoulder injury, Steyn also overcame a torn bicep and pectoral muscles, the report added.
Ahead of India’s tour, South Africa will play Zimbabwe in a one-off day-night Test around Boxing Day before India visit for three Tests, six ODIs and two T20Is.
