With stories and discussions around #MeToo and #HimThough still resonating, a Mumbai-based all-women jazz dance crew has come forward (video above) with a powerful representation of what a victim of sexual harassment has to endure.
Titled The Dancers’ Story, it is a powerful combination of oration and contemporary jazz choreography. The evocative dance moves, which pull no punches, are set in motion not by music but by a narration of true stories of sexual assault that women have been subjected to.
Every emotion of a victim, be it anger, fear or even gratitude for someone was there for them, is captured in the choreography. “We have the privilege of being able to express through our art, and so we did. These are only a handful of experiences that we went through,” the group said on their YouTube page .
