A fire broke out at a restaurant in Kolkata’s New Market area on Thursday, PTI reported. No casualties have been reported so far.
The restaurant is located close to the Kolkata Municipal Corporation’s head office.
“Three fire tenders were rushed to the spot soon after the blaze was reported at 10.25 am,” an unidentified fire department official told PTI. “Apparently, the cause of fire was the explosion of a cooking gas cylinder.”
The official said the fire was now under control and an investigation would reveal its cause.
