A Hizbul Mujahideen militant was arrested on Thursday in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district, said the Kulgam Police. Showkat Ahmad Lone was tasked with killing policemen and taking their weapons, Kulgam Senior Superintendent of Police Shridhar Patil told Scroll.in.
The police also seized a pistol and four rounds from him. A case under Section 7 and 25 of the Arms Act has been registered against him, and an investigation is under way.
Lone has involved in militancy for over a decade, said Patil. He was working on the instructions of local Hizbul Mujahideen commander Riyaz Naikoo, ANI reported.
