Technology giant Apple will recruit students from the International Institute of Information Technology in Hyderabad during its placement drive this year, The Times of India reported on Monday. This is the first time the company will visit an Indian engineering college for recruitment.

“We are elated that Apple has decided to come for our campus placements this year,” said TV Devi Prasad, head of placements at the institute. “We are not sure of the kind of profiles the company will be offering. But it will provide an opportunity to the graduating students to showcase their skills before representatives of the firm.”

The United States-based company is expected to hire students for its Hyderabad and Bengaluru offices. The placement drive at the institute will begin next month, and nearly 350 BTech, BE, MTech and MSc students have registered for it.

Microsoft and Google have already registered with the institute as recruiters for the placement drive.

More companies are offering positions involving artificial intelligence, data science, automation and deep learning this year, officials told The Times of India. Prasad told the newspaper that many will recruit for product development and research and development, as well.
