At least two militants were killed as the security forces foiled an infiltration bid in the Uri sector of Baramulla district in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday, said the Army. Defence Ministry spokesperson Colonel Rajesh Kalia told Greater Kashmir that a search operation was under way.
The encounter took place in Kamalkote, near the Line of Control, in Baramulla district, reported the Hindustan Times. More details are awaited.
This comes a day after a police officer died after an exchange of fire in Pulwama district. Constable Abdul Salam was injured after suspected militants opened fire on a team on duty at a post in Rajpora town. He later succumbed to his injuries.
