Netflix has dropped actor Kevin Spacey from the award-winning House of Cards show after he was accused of sexual misconduct on the sets of the show, The Guardian reported.
Production on the sixth and final season of the acclaimed series, produced by Media Rights Capital, has been suspended since October 30. Netflix had also launched an investigation into the allegations of sexual abuse against the actor.
“Netflix will not be involved with any further production of House of Cards that includes Kevin Spacey,” the company said in a fresh statement. “We will continue to work with MRC (Media Rights Capital) during this hiatus time to evaluate our path forward as it relates to the show.”
The company has also declined to release the film Gore, starring and produced by Spacey. Directed by Michael Hoffman, Gore is a biopic of American writer Gore Vidal.
Meanwhile, Scotland Yard has launched an investigation into Spacey after allegations that he sexually harassed an actor in London a decade ago, Variety reported. The actor has alleged that Spacey performed oral sex on him without his consent and warned him not to tell anyone what had happened.
