A Delhi court on Friday has sought the response of Tihar jail authorities on a sexual harassment complaint from a man from Britain inside the prison, The Hindu reported.
The prisoner, a man from England of Bangladeshi origin, was arrested in September for allegedly recruiting Rohingya Muslim youths from Bangladesh to fight for terror outfit al-Qaeda against the Myanmar Army.
In his complaint filed in the court of Additional Sessions Judge Siddharth Sharma at the Patiala House courts, he alleged that five Tamil Nadu Special Police personnel searched his cell on November 2 and sexually harassed him.
“Usually, only one Tamil Nadu Special Police personnel used to search my body in a proper way, but yesterday [November 2], all the five TSP personnel searched and touched me,” he said in his complaint. After this, they...deliberately harassed me sexually.”
The inmate added that he was facing this harassment because he was a British national, and asked the court to file a First Information Report against the police personnel. The court has told the Tihar jail authorities to file a response by November 8.
