Films like Now You See Me, The Illusionist and The Prestige have revealed the lengths to which magicians can sometimes go to safeguard the secrets behind their magic tricks.
But a magician duo from China has made it big on the internet with a unique gag that makes for hilarious viewing (videos above and below).
While one of them meticulously engages the viewer in the illusions, the other mercilessly exposes the trick with a straight face. They go by their stage names: the performer is A Gan and his destructive friend, Pokerface Man.
Every element of the videos – the dramatic music, A Gan’s slow build-up, and the slow revelation of the trick – makes the anti-climatic ending funnier still. The two friends even engage in a little make-belief scuffle every time Pokerface Man jumps in to spill the beans.
