“Are you for the government or against the government,” a government officer fumes at Nayanthara’s character in the trailer of her upcoming Tamil film Aramm (Help). “I think the government is nothing but people,” rebuts the actor, who plays a district collector in the November 10 release.
Aramm follows a strong-willed government official’s quest to help a water-scarce village in Tamil Nadu. Directed by Gopi Nainar, the film also stars child actors V Ramesh and J Vignesh of Kaaka Muttai fame.
Nainar entered the public eye in 2014 when he filed a plagiarism case against AR Murugadoss’s Vijay-starrer Kaththi (2014). The box office hit dealt with similar themes of water shortage and farmer suicides. Kaththi won the case after the Chennai city civil court dismissed Nainar’s allegations.
