Pope Francis on Tuesday admitted to dozing off sometimes while praying. While praying, the Pope has a very grave expression, often bowing his head and closing his eyes for long periods, according to AFP. He said several other saints have been known to nap too.
“When I pray, sometimes I fall asleep,” he said to Catholic TV2000. “Saint Therese did it too,” he said, referring to the 19th-century French nun. He said that while praying, Christians should feel like children lying in their fathers’ arms – a comfortable place to nap.
The 80-year-old head of the Roman Catholic church is believed to value his sleep. He is usually asleep by 9 pm and wakes up at 4 am.
