A man in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut district has been arrested after he allegedly raped a 100-year-old woman early on Monday, IANS reported. The woman, lived in Jaani village, died soon after.
Ankit Punia, 24, was inebriated when he attacked the woman, the police said. Punia was about to escape when the woman’s brother heard her cries. He and a few neighbours overpowered Punia, and handed him over to the police.
Punia claimed he was innocent, and had not committed the crime, the police said.
