Nine Jawaharlal Nehru University students must file an application in court by November 10 on whether they are willing to undergo the Central Bureau of Investigation’s lie-detection test in connection with the disappearance of student Najeeb Ahmed in 2016.
On October 15, 2016, Najeeb Ahmed, a student at Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru University, was spotted getting into an autorickshaw on the campus, allegedly after a scuffle at his hostel with Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad activists. He has not been seen since, and more than a year later, the authorities are yet to find him.
On Monday, Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Samar Vishal allowed the Central Bureau of Investigation’s plea asking for an early hearing of the case.
On October 17, the probe agency filed the application to conduct the polygraph test, after the Delhi High Court asked it to move the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate in the Patiala House courts for an early hearing, The Hindu reported. The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate had earlier scheduled the hearing for January 24.
