Pakistan requested for unscheduled, high-level talks with India’s Director General of Military Operations on Monday, ANI reported. Pakistan alleged that Indian security forces resorted to unprovoked firing along the Line of Control.

India’s Director General of Military Operations, Lieutenant General AK Bhatt, spoke to his Pakistani counterpart Sahir Shamshad Mirza at 2 pm over a hotline. He said Indian troops only fired in retaliation, and that the Indian Army has “impeccable” standards of professionalism and does not target civilians.

In September too, Pakistan claimed the Indian Army had targeted its civilians across the border, killing six people and injuring 20 others. Bhatt had told Mirza then that the Indian Army reserved the right to “retaliate appropriately” if its personnel were killed in Pakistani firing across the Line of Control, an Army statement said.
