Manchester United have arguably had their best start to a season since Sir Alex Ferguson’s departure. With 23 points from 10 games, they currently sit second in the Premier League table. Despite Romelu Lukaku getting seven goals, he still faces constant criticism from pundits and fans alike. It’s clear he’s good, but there’s a big presence missing up top – in the form of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Ever since he tore his anterior cruciate ligament in April, United have missed the big Swede’s contribution and unique skillset in the final third. Pundits and media wrote him off because of his age and not being able to compete in ‘the toughest league in the world’. He had his hiccups, sure, but the impact he made last season was undeniable. 28 goals in 8 months for a 35-year-old in his first season was unprecedented.
In this interview with the Arsenal legend Thierry Henry, Zlatan showed his lighter side, speaking about training alone, “I don’t like the easy way. I like the difficult way of coming back. I cannot do wheelchairs. Zlatan doesn’t do wheelchairs. So I used crutches till I got better.”
He was at his jovial self, comparing himself to a certain being that could walk on water and claiming that he is back to ‘finish what he started’.
