A robber on Friday night hit the security guard of an ATM in Goa’s Panaji multiple times, after he tried to stop him from stealing money, and then fled the scene. The incident was recorded by the bank’s CCTV camera, but authorities have not identified the man yet as he was wearing a mask.
In the video, the unarmed guard, Ranu Singh, is seen trying to stop the robber inside the Bank of Maharashtra ATM. The robber then hits Singh with a hammer about a dozen times.
The guard pulled off the man’s mask and took away the hammer before he could flee. The accused fled on a motorcycle, The Times of India reported.
The police have registered a complaint and have asked the security agency to explain why their guard was unarmed, Panaji Police Inspector Siddhant Shirodkar told The Times of India.
