The police in Kerala on Wednesday said they had arrested three suspected members of the Islamic State group, The Hindu reported. The Valapattanam Police in Kannur district arrested Midilaj, Abdul Razk and MV Rashid after they returned from Turkey.
Two other suspects are in custody, but their arrests have not been registered yet. Led by Kannur Deputy Superintendent of Police PP Sadanandan, the five are being interrogated, Matrubhumi reported.
The five suspects are from the towns of Chakkarakkal and Valapattanam.
In July 2016, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan told the Assembly that 21 Muslim youths from the state had gone missing over a month, and it was suspected that they had joined the extremist group.
