A solid all-round performance by Gujarat Fortunegiants saw them reach the final of Pro Kabaddi in their debut season as they hammered Bengal Warriors 42-17 in Mumbai on Tuesday.
Star youngster Sachin Tanwar led the raiding charts with nine points and was ably supported by Mahendra Rajput who scored eight. In defence, Iran’s Abozar Mighani and Parvesh Bainswal scored four points apiece.
Bengal Warriors had a poor second half where they scored only seven points. Both Maninder Singh and Jang Kun Lee couldn’t deliver when it mattered the most and scored just one point each.
Gujarat Fortunegiants went on a rampage in the last 10 minutes as they inflicted an all-out in the 36th minute to lead 38-16. The debutants ran out comfortable winners in the end as they had a 25-point winning margin.
Pardeep Narwal drags Pirates past Paltan
Patna Pirates scored 18 points in the last six minutes to record a stunning come-from-behind 42-32 victory over Puneri Paltan in the third eliminator, which was Tuesday’s second match.
Pardeep Narwal was sensational yet again as he scored 19 points to lead his team to victory. Patna Pirates will now play Bengal Warriors for a place in the final against Gujarat Fortunegiants.
Puneri Paltan crumbled under pressure and lost their nerve as their campaign came to a disappointing end. Deepak Niwas Hooda scored nine points but couldn’t deliver when it mattered the most for his team.
