The Madras High Court on Wednesday said that a complaint could be filed against actor Kamal Haasan if the police saw merit in the criticism that the actor spread misinformation by cautioning people against using nilavembu kudineer, ANI reported. Nilavembu kudineer is a herbal mixture promoted by the Tamil Nadu government for preventing dengue.
Earlier, The Hindu reported that the police had decided not to act on a complaint against the actor, which was lodged by an activist who also wanted to initiate criminal defamation proceedings.
Last Thursday, Haasan tweeted asking people associated with his movement not to distribute nilavembu kudineer, which is recommended for the prevention of all types of viral infections and fevers, till its safety and efficacy were proved by conclusive research.
