An AR Rahman performance attended by Rajinikanth, Akshay Kumar and possibly Kamal Haasan is the highlight of the music launch of Shankar’s science fiction thriller 2.0. The Tamil-language sequel to Endhiran (2010) stars Rajinikanth, Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson and will be released in January.
Rahman will reportedly perform a 30-minute set of his songs from 2.0 with a 125-member symphony orchestra at Burj Park in Dubai on Friday. Boasting of a budget of Rs 450 crores, the Lyca Productions project will see the return of Rajinikanth as the highly developed robot Chitti. Kumar plays the villain in the movie, which will be released in 3D and dubbed in Hindi and Telugu.
United Arab Emirates Prime Minister Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has been invited to the launch, as has been Kamal Hassan, who will star in Indian 2, the sequel to Shankar’s 1996 blockbuster Indian.
