What if writers were answerable to their creations on how their lives turned out? Navinder Kirpal Singh’s nine-and-a-half minute short film Cinderella explores this intriguing possibility.
Crime writer Jay Dhawan (Harshvardhan Deo) is contemplating killing a character in a novel he is working on when he is confronted by a woman in a white wedding gown (Ridhima Pai), who asks him why he had to kill her fiancé Anthony in his earlier work, Cinderella. The author has an epiphany as he tries to justify the endings he has crafted in his books.
Although the dialogue sound stiff and contrived, the film asks important questions about the depiction of violence. Cinderella is available on the Humara Movie YouTube channel.
