Maruti Suzuki India has overtaken Hyundai Motor India Ltd to become the largest exporter of passenger cars in India in the first half of the current financial year, PTI reported.
According to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers, the company sold 57,300 passenger cars between April and September, up 6% from this period a year ago.
Hyundai, meanwhile, saw a decline of 29.25% in sales, shipping 44,585 units as against 63,014 units in the corresponding period in 2016. The automaker slipped to the fourth position behind Volkswagen and General Motors India in the list of largest exporters of passenger cars.
Several automakers reported that there had been an increase in the year-on-year sales growth this September during the festival season.
